Small Talk Six – If Only I Weren’t Allergic to Animals

smalltalksix3001This is my first time participating in MomDot’s Saturday theme called Small Talk Six, where you respond to their weekly topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 photos, or 6 paragraphs, etc.

Today’s topic is: “Six animals (domestic, wild, or exotic) you think would be fun to own as pets.”

Well unfortunately I am allergic to animal hair which totally limits my pet ownership. My adorable rat terrier Ashes does not bother me too bad.  But my niece, Maddie,  who is a golden retriever makes me sneeze my head off and my eyes itch out of their sockets.  Here are my favorite animals I think would be fun to have as pets:

1.  Fluffy penguin

2.  Sweet rabbit

3.  Cuddly kittens.  Unfortunately I am allergic to cat hair most of all.

4.  Handsome Horse

5.  Plush Panda

6.   Cute Koala

Say it ain’t so – Simon Cowell leaving American Idol?

The Web is buzzing that Simon Cowell may leave American Idol according to an interview with Britian’s Daily Mirror.  Simon apparently said to one of their reporters:

“Most people do one show a year and I do three, and they involve a lot of traveling.  One may have to go. I don’t know which one. That is the problem, I like all of them. I can’t imagine not doing ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and I can’t imagine not doing ‘X Factor.’ But I guess America is more likely to go because I have got one year under contract. Maybe that will be the end.”

Seriously this has to be a mistake??  A Simonless American Idol? American Idol without  Simon Cowell = major ratings dive in my opinion.  It will just not be the same.  I have to say that if he leaves I leave as well.  He’s the only thing keeping me tuning in every week.  Will you still watch Idol if it is Simonless?

What’s in your Easter basket?

One of my favorite things about Easter is putting together the Little Write Gal’s Easter basket.  Every year she gets a bathing suit in her basket, which has been a tradition since her very first Easter.  This year there also was a chocolate bunny, earrings, 12 lip glosses, and some adorable reversible headbands from Keeks and Brie

What’s in your Easter basket?  Happy Easter!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today would have been my Dad’s 67th birthday.  It is so hard trying to live without him.  He passed away in January from complications from leukemia.  If you missed my post about his death you can read it here

This is one of my favorite pictures of my parents. I love it so much. I know it’s a little early for Christmas, but this picture makes me smile every time I see it so I thought I would share.

Happy Birthday to a great man and an awesome Father!

Office Max and Peter Walsh team up to make you organized

peterofficemaxLast week I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a Webcast with Office Max and Clean Sweep’s Peter Walsh.  Peter has just launched a new line of office organization products at Office Max.  I was fortunate enough to receive samples of these products and I am impressed.  They are very durable and functional. Now you won’t see pictures on my blog of my messy office, but receiving them did inspire me to do some Spring cleaning.  Check out some of the items from Peter’s new [IN] Place System.

During the Web cast Peter shared some helpful tips that I thought I would pass along to my Write Gal readers:

  • Keep a journal or notebook to organize post-its, notes, to do lists, etc.  This will eliminate keeping scraps of  paper everywhere.  I am so guilty of this and I always have scraps of all over the place: in my car, my calendar, my purse, the home office.  I LOVE this idea and I have been trying it for a few days now.
  • Clear your clutter before you start organizing; don’t rush out and buy new organizational products first.  I think that clutter removal is definitely the first step to what Peter calls “Turning Your Office Into Office Heaven.”  Well apparently he hasn’t seen my office.  He wouldn’t be calling it heavenly. I am seeing some red LOL.  Now when the clutter is gone Peter’s products are a definite must have.  They are clear in color which will match any office decor.
  • Even children can learn to be organized. Peter mentioned the importance of teaching children to put everything in its place and to put their school work away immediately in a folder.  Make sure you clean it out periodically and toss items you no longer need.  I bet I still have some papers from when The Little Write Gal was in daycare around here somewhere.
  • Organization is a battle that has to be won.  This is definitely a true statement at my house.  Currently my office is a pit.  My dog is even scared to enter.

Office Clutter – 10; Write Gal – 0.
