Thanks for tagging me (I think)

Thanks to my friend Rhea from Mommy23Monkeys, I have been tagged to come up with my list of 6 unimportant things that make me happy.  Well if they make me happy, they wouldn’t be unimportant.  Hmmmm.  Anyway, I have to list my top 6 and then tag another 6 bloggers to do the same.  So here goes:starbucks

  1. Starbucks (Enough said).
  2. Celebrity gossip (Love it).
  3. Brothers & Sisters (Rob Lowe gets even better with age).
  4. Topsail Island, NC (A great place to vacation).
  5. Shopping (I am a shop-a-holic – as if you didn’t know that already by reading my blog).
  6. My Crackberry Blackberry (I probably need a support group).

There you have it.  So, in the spririt of fun here is my list of 6 bloggers:

  1. AJ from A Little Bit Nutty
  2. Dore’ from Dore’s Diaries
  3. Emily from Georgie Tees
  4. Shannon from Potamus Prefers

  6. Kim from What’s That Smell?

Have fun!

I was a little off in my American Idol prediction that the final two would be Adam Lambert & Danny Gokey.  Danny was eliminated on Wednesday leaving Kris Allen going up against Adam in next week’s finale.  Who do you think will be the next American Idol?  I still think Adam will win it all.  We shall see.

For Mother’s Day I wanted to share one of my favorite pictures of my daughter which was taken on her 8th birthday.  I love her sweet expression and her big beautiful eyes which are just like her Aunt Ashley’s.  She is so adorable and makes every day special.  She knows I love things that smell good so for Mother’s Day she requested that her Dad drive her to Pier 1 so she could buy my present.  She gave me a beautiful reed diffuser that smells just like the Ocean.

For Mother’s Day I hope if you still have your Mom in your life you will remind her why she is so special. I will be talking about my Mom this morning when I lead the Children’s Sermon at church.  She taught me many things but one thing in particular that stands out is how from the time I could write, she taught me to express my gratitude by sending a thank you note.  That is something I will always treasure and have even taught my daughter to do the same. The Little Write Gal has her own set of monogrammed notecards for thank-you-note writing.  My Mom also taught me how to be a good mother by setting a wonderful example.  I LOVE YOU MOM!  :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Abella Galleries Necklace Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

momdot31

I am excited to be participating in MomDot’s Birthday Bash – 31 Bloggers in 31 days.  Each day in May, MomDot is bringing you a different giveaway in celebration of my friend Trisha’s 31st birthday.  Happy Birthday Trisha!  My birthday is also in May (the 24th) and I have to say I am enjoying an early birthday present, a gorgeous turquoise beaded necklace from Abella Galleries, my fabulous sponsor for this event. Abella Galleries creates vibrant turquoise and white stone beaded jewelry designs.

abellanecklace1My necklace is the Blue Meadow Oval and let me say that it is absolutely gorgeous!  The green turquoise beads are exquisite and give just the right amount of color to whatever outfit you are wearing.  I have the 33 inch version of this necklace which I love because of the versatility.  You can either wear it long or double it as shown in this photo.  I also like the size of the beads. They are the perfect size and make this piece wearable for any occasion.

abellanecklace2Abella Galleries is owned by Creative Director and Jewelry Designer, Elizabeth Rowland who became inspired while exploring Beijing.  During her travels, she happened to discover a small jewelry booth covered from floor to ceiling with gorgeous, vibrantly colored blue turquoise bead necklaces. Elizabeth immediately fell in love with the beautiful beads and decided that she had to share them with others and started her online jewelry shop.

You can win your choice of necklace from Abella Galleries.  To enter, visit Abella Galleries and tell me in a comment which necklace is your favorite (other than the Blue Meadow Oval).  That’s it!  Everyone loves extra entries so you can gain an extra entry for doing any of the following (and leave me a separate comments for each):

  • Follow Elizabeth on Twitter.
  • Become a Fan of Abella Galleries on Facebook.
  • Subscribe to my blog (Current subscribers also eligible!).
  • Tweet about my contest (1 tweet per day).

This contest is actually going to run for the rest of May in conjunction with the blog party.  The winner will be announced on June 1st!  Contest open to U.S. residents only.

Be sure and head on over to MomDot and check out the rest of the 31 bloggers in 31 days so you can enter to win some cool stuff.  Good Luck!

Make your Mom smile by giving her flowers this Mother’s Day!

flowers1

If you still have not decided what to get your Mom for Mother’s Day,  consider giving her fresh flowers.  I LOVE fresh flowers and have always enjoyed the beauty and fragrance of having them in my home.  No matter what kind of day I am having, fresh flowers make me smile and make my day brighter. They are a perfect gift that I love to give and receive. Did you know that 90% of fresh-cut flowers purchased in the United States come from Colombia?  Chances are this Mother’s Day the flowers you give and/or receive will be from this beautiful country.

 flowers2

I was thrilled to have been chosen to participate in the “Mommy Wants Flowers” Mother’s Day contest sponsored by Columbia, Land of Flowers.  Each participant received 20 gorgeous Gerbera daisies, a mug, and other supplies which were needed to create the “Mom is Tops” Topiary you see pictured here.  The Little Write Gal presented my topiary with a “First Place” Ribbon because she said that no matter if I won the contest,  I was always a winner to her.  Awwww!!!! She was delighted to make a video in support of her Mom.  This is actually our second take because I was crying all during the first one.   Enjoy!

I would like to thank Columbia, Land of Flowers, for the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful Mother’s Day experience.   Happy Mother’s Day!
