Future blogger in the house

futurebloggerYesterday the Little Write Gal asked me if she could make her own vlog.  How many 8 year olds do you know who know what the word “vlog” is? LOL :)  Well of course I said yes.  So here you go, for your viewing enjoyment is the Little Write Gal’s very own vlog (also starring our fabulous rat terrier, Ashes).

Where I will be this weekend. . .

BethMoore

I have been looking forward for months now to see Beth Moore in person at a Women’s Conference called Deeper Still which will be held this weekend.  Also speaking will be Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer, and the fabulous Travis Cottrell will be performing. I had the opportunity to see Travis perform in person at my sister’s church a few months ago. He is awesome and I cannot wait to hear him again.

This trip is going to be very hard for me and I have been debating on whether or not to even go.  One of the girls going with us is in a coma and in Intensive Care.  She is a darling friend of mine, Lois, who is in my Bible study group at church.  Lois went in to the hospital on Monday because she was having back pain.  The doctors are still not sure what happened but somehow her pulse stopped and she wound up in a coma.  Lois is almost brain dead and is on a ventilator.  Please pray for a miracle and for Lois and her family.  She is only 48 years old.  Lois was so excited about the trip. I feel in my heart she would want us to still attend.  We are all going to the hospital on the way to the conference tomorrow.  I will post an update when I return.

Thanks for your prayers.  Oh and if you are looking for a great blog to read, check out the Living Proof Ministries Blog.

Top 10 Reasons I am Excited to Stay Home with My Family this Coming Weekend

top10Okay I will admit it.  I have been a little bummed out because it seems like everyone and their sister is attending BlogHer (a blogging convention) in Chicago which started today.  Then a blog post from my friend Lisa at Mom of 2 Boys, Wife of 1, made me realize that I am not the only one not going to BlogHer and that instead of feeling bummed, I should be excited to have time with my family this weekend.  Lisa announced on her blog a contest sponsored by Cozi who is giving away $100 to 15 bloggers not going to BlogHer.  To enter, we each have to post the Top 10 reasons we are excited to stay home with our families this weekend.  The 15 bloggers with the most comments on Monday, July 27th will each win 100 big ones.  SO PLEASE LEAVE ME A COMMENT

Since I hope that I am one of the lucky 15, if you leave a comment here, you can enter either one of my current giveaways an extra 15 times.  Need a SlimPerfect swimsuit or Mitchel Musso’s CD? Comment here and then leave 15 separate comments on one or both of those posts.  Here is my list (in no particular order):

1.  I get to spend some quality time with The Little Write Gal who just got home from “Camp Grandma” today.

2.  I will save lots of money since I didn’t have to buy any new clothes for BlogHer.

3.  If I was at BlogHer I would miss seeing my college friends Caroline and Mandy who I am visiting with tomorrow.

4.  I get to go to church with my family on Sunday.

5.  The Little Write Gal and I will be attending a birthday party on Saturday for the prettiest and sweetest 3 year old, Miss Ava Elizabeth.

6.  I would miss The Little Write Gal and Ashes terribly.

7.  I need to stay home because next weekend I am going to be out of town with some girls at church for a Beth Moore conference.

8.  I would miss my Sunday afternoon nap with The Little Write Gal.

9.  I have a hard time sleeping when I am not in my own bed.

10.  I would miss reading all of the wonderful comments from my readers if I was sitting in a conference all day.

Thank you so much for leaving me a comment. So what will you be doing this weekend?

Coming Soon!

Send Virtual Cards – Try Free Ecards

ecardpicThe next time you need to send a card to someone, try Free Ecards.  This site has free birthday ecards and many other occasions available including get well cards, friendship cards, and thank you and congratulations cards.  You can easily add a personalized image or photo to your card to give it that extra special touch. You can also attach an .mp3 audio file to send your favorite song with your card.  If you prefer to send traditional paper cards, skip the trip to the mall and browse the site’s large selection of free printable cards.  You can easily design and create your own card and print it out in your home to send to family and friends. There is a template which allows you to upload a personal photo from your computer or choose one of the many images available on the site. You can also choose from among the many message options or add your own personal message.

One thing I like about this site in addition to the many categories is that registration is not required like it is with some other similar companies out there.  You are not going to be bombarded by unwanted emails when you use this service.  It is fast, FREE, and easy!

This post was brought to you by the “Jump Start Your Blog Contest” sponsored by Got-Free-Ecards and MomDot.

If you need a good cry

nightsinrodanthemovieThis week the Little Write Gal is at “Camp Grandma” so I decided to watch one of those grown-up movies that I never get to see.  I love Richard Gere as an actor so I decided to rent the DVD Nights in Rodanthe which is based on the book of the same name by Nicholas Sparks.  The other reason I wanted to see this movie is that it was filmed in several towns along the North Carolina coast. Part of the movie was filmed in beautiful Topsail Island where we went on vacation recently and it was a treat to see some of the same sites in the movie that I just visited a few weeks ago.

I am not going to give away the plot but I will say that if you need a good cry you should definitely see this movie.   I normally don’t cry during movies but I was balling my eyes out so bad even the dog felt sorry for me.  I usually read the book before watching the movie but made an exception since I had a few hours to myself.  I am definitely going to read Sparks’ book which I am going to guess is even better than the movie.

If you watch it, don’t forget the tissues.
