Last year we ordered our holiday cards from Couture Invito and we plan on doing so again this year. They are beautiful and we received so many compliments on them! Couture Invito has many holiday photo card designs to choose from and you can even select your own color, font, and message. They have given The Write Gal readers a coupon code to save 15% on their entire site! Just enter writegal2009 at checkout to save; the discount is good until December 31, 2009. If you order, tell Alesa that The Write Gal sent you. Take a look at some of these gorgeous card designs:
In addition to holiday photo cards, they also carry stationery, photo notepads, and personalized gifts. I did a review last year on the notepads and if you missed it you can read it here. These make great gifts for Christmas!
I have to get my tree up this weekend so we can take a picture for our cards. The Little Write Gal is ready and has even picked out her outfit as well as the dog’s!
Access Hollywood is reporting that The Oprah Winfrey Show is going to end on September 9, 2011, at the close of its 25th season on the air. Please say it isn’t so! I love Oprah! Oprah is supposed to announce the show’s end tomorrow during its live broadcast. It is rumored that Oprah will be ending her popular syndicated talk show to focus on her new cable channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), which is a joint venture with Discovery Communications. Oprah announced recently that OWN will premiere later this year to approximately 70 million homes in the U.S.
I hope our cable network is going to carry OWN! Maybe they will show Oprah reruns? What do you think about Oprah leaving the daytime talk show world?

Yesterday the New Oxford American Dictionary announced on its blog the 2009 Word of the Year. Drumroll…………it is “Unfriend”. As in I am going to unfriend you on Facebook. In case you are living in a hole you know what I am talking about. But for those unfamiliar with FB here is the “official” definition: unfriend – verb – To remove someone as a ‘friend’ on a social networking site such as Facebook.
Don’t make me unfriend you is hilarious. Somebody get me that on a bumper sticker.
The Little Write Gal was thrilled at the latest review item from Team Mom, the K-Nex 400 pieces tub. She has been making tons of designs with it and we took some pictures of her creations. If you are shopping for kids ages 7+ this Christmas, this toy would be a great gift! One thing the Little Write Gal enjoyed was the instruction book which is included and offers building ideas for 20 different models. If you have a Lego fan in your house, K’Nex works with Legos so you can have twice the fun. One thing I liked about the K-Nex set was the awesome tub it comes in so I am not picking up little pieces all over the house. This is a feature I know that all Moms will appreciate! The K’Nex 400 pieces tub retails for $20.99 and is available at major retailers like Target, Wal-Mart, & Toys R Us.
Check out some of the Little Write Gal’s K’Nex creations!

I am proud to be affiliated with Walmart and as part of their More than Elevenmoms group, I learned that recently Walmart and the Walmart Foundation launched a program called Walmart Gives Back to benefit those in need this holiday season. This holiday giving initiative will provide $32 million in monetary and in-kind donations to charitable organizations across the United States. Recently executives from Feeding America, Meals On Wheels and Walmart packed Great Value-branded products and fresh apples onto 35 refrigerator trucks, then sent them out to help put meals on tables in communities nationwide. Feeding America estimates the trucks will help food banks provide an additional 52.5 million pounds of food – or 41 million additional meals – per year.
In addition, the Walmart Foundation is providing a $2.2 million grant to Meals On Wheels Association of America. Through this funding, 140 Meals On Wheels programs across the nation will upgrade or replace delivery vehicles, stoves, refrigerators and freezers. These improvements will help increase the number of meals provided to the one in nine seniors facing the threat of hunger. Walmart also gives at the local level to the Salvation Army and this season the Red Kettles will fundraise at Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations nationwide from Friday, Nov. 27 through Thursday, Dec. 24.
I am proud to be a Walmart shopper because I know that the company does so much for our communities throughout the year and for those in need for the holidays. Support your local Walmart as you do your Christmas shopping this year! To learn more about Walmart’s Giving Back campaign and how you can help visit walmartgiving.com.
As part of the More than Elevenmoms group, Walmart provides me with news and company information which you will see in this blog post.
I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! Happy WW!
