Hooked on Twilight

I feel like one of the last people on Earth to read the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.  But thanks to my sister I am now HOOKED. If you are a fan of the book series, Ms. Meyer announced on her  blog a few weeks ago that there will be a new Twilight novella coming out in June, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, a character first introduced in Eclipse as a newborn vampire.

This weekend I finally had a chance to watch the movies Twilight and New Moon.  Although, I am glad I read the books first so I did not have any preconceived notions of what Edward looked like.  I do like Robert Pattinson as Edward,  but I think the Edward in my head was hunkier. I have never been a Kristen Stewart fan, and that did not change after I saw her performance as Bella Swan. I expected the character of Jacob to be taller than Taylor Lautner, who I still remember from the Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl Disney movie.  Regardless I can’t wait until June 30th to see the release of Eclipse.  If you have not yet seen the trailer, check it out.

Who’s coming to the movies with me June 30th?

You say laryngitis, I say bad singing

This week Paige Miles blamed laryngitis for the reason she got the boot on American Idol.  I find it funny she has to put the “blame” anywhere.  I would venture to say it was the bad singing that made America not vote for Paige to be part of the Top 10.

Is it me or is American Idol horrible this season?  I honestly don’t care if I tune in or not.  Snooze City.

Any die-hard AI fans still out there?

I love Ellen as the new Idol judge!

At first when I heard the announcement that Ellen DeGeneres was replacing Paula Abdul I was skeptical.  But after watching her during Hollywood week for the last two weeks I have to say she makes a unique addition to the show.  It was hard to even tell she was new because she sat at the judges’ table like she belonged there.  I found her comments honest and her opinions insightful.

I love Ellen but I don’t see myself saying the same thing about Simon’s replacement who has not yet been named.  I bet we won’t find that out until close to the end of Season 9.  I still think after this year and no Simon, Idol should retire.  There isn’t anyone out there who can fill those shoes (or a black t-shirt) like Simon does.

What do you think about Ellen?

American Idol producers say what?

The New York Post is reporting that American Idol producers want Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell at the end of this season.  Seriously?  Howard Stern?  Have they never listened to his radio show?  Every other word out of that man’s mouth would have to be bleeped out for prime time TV.  I have said before that I am not planning on watching Idol without Simon.  Now there is no doubt in my mind.

Do you think Howard can fill Simon’s shoes?

What TV show can you not stop watching?

I do not watch a lot of TV.  Well maybe besides American Idol and Brothers and Sisters.  But there is one show that I just cannot stop watching and that is Keeping up with the Kardashians on E. This season there has been a lot of online rumor that it is “fake” and that the Kardashian antics are scripted.  Scripted or not, I love to watch Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney.  I think Bruce Jenner is hilarious.

And if you just can’t get enough of the Kardashians, you can buy their used clothing, accessories, etc. on eBay by visiting Kim’s Closet.  Portions of the proceeds benefit various charities including the American Red Cross.  But somebody needs to tell Kim there is a typo on her site which says satisfaction is guarenteed.  And we all know that per the Write Gal, typos are a big no no.

What TV show has you hooked?

Rob Lowe fans are *sad*

The news circulated this week that actor Rob Lowe is leaving the popular ABC show Brothers and Sisters at the end of this season. I don’t watch much TV but I have been glued to Brothers and Sisters on Sunday nights ever since Rob Lowe joined the show. For four seasons Lowe has played Sen. Robert McAllister, the husband of Calista Flockhart’s character, Kitty McAllister.  I am hoping I don’t have to be  :(   for long because according to Lowe’s publicist he is in talks with ABC for his own show.  Something tells me I am going to be watching!

Are you going to watch Brothers & Sisters without Robert?

Can’t get enough of “Pants on the Ground”

They have been playing last night’s ”Pants on the Ground” audition song from American Idol on the radio all day. I can’t seem to get it out of my head.  It was hysterical.  As Simon said, this won’t be the last we hear of General Larry Platt.  Go Larry go!  If you missed it, check it out here:

What was your favorite moment from the Atlanta auditions?

Will you watch Idol without Simon?

Today Fox announced that this season of American Idol will be Simon Cowell’s last.  I have to say that Simon was the only reason I watched the show and I will definitely not be tuning in after he leaves.  First Paula and now Simon. As far as I am concerned they should just take the show off the air.  It just won’t be the same.  He was reportedly making $36 million per season for Idol and that is a lot of money to be giving up.

Thankfully Simon fans don’t have to wait long for another dose of his unique charm.  Fox announced that Simon’s popular U.K. talent show, “The X Factor,” will be coming to the United States in the fall of 2011 and he will be both an executive producer and a judge.  Maybe he can get Ryan Seacrest to host.

Will you be watching Idol without Simon?

No more Oprah? Say it isn’t so!

Access Hollywood is reporting that The Oprah Winfrey Show is going to end on September 9, 2011, at the close of its 25th season on the air.  Please say it isn’t so!  I love Oprah!  Oprah is supposed to announce the show’s end tomorrow during its live broadcast.  It is rumored that Oprah will be ending her popular syndicated talk show to focus on her new cable channel, The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), which is a joint venture with Discovery Communications.  Oprah announced recently that OWN will premiere later this year to approximately 70 million homes in the U.S.

I hope our cable network is going to carry OWN!  Maybe they will show Oprah reruns? What do you think about Oprah leaving the daytime talk show world?

Are you going to watch The Dr. Oz Show?

drozAfter five years and 55 shows, Dr. Oz is leaving Oprah’s nest to start his own show which will debut on September 14.  While I have enjoyed tuning in when he was a guest star on Oprah, I can’t imagine watching him every day.  Of course I said the same thing about Dr. Phil and what do I know?  He is still around and it has been seven years since he left Oprah to star in The Dr. Phil Show. One thing is for sure–leaving the nest usually equals success.

So are you going to watch The Dr. Oz Show?
